Fredric Snitzer Gallery is pleased to present under the beating sun, a group exhibition that sheds light on life in the subtropics. Spanning different backgrounds, cultures, and geographic regions, these artists explore themes of reconnecting with nature, exploring spirituality, and challenging conventional narratives of life in tropical environments. The exhibition's timing, coinciding with the spring equinox, adds an extra layer of significance, as it symbolizes a time of balance and renewal.

The artists featured in the exhibition, including José Bedia, Raúl Cordero, Noah Cribb, Tomás Esson, Marielle Plaisir, and Vickie Pierre, offer a rich tapestry of interpretations of life in the tropics.

From Florida to Guadeloupe, Cuba, and Brazil, each artist brings their unique perspective on what it means to live in these environments. This exhibition allows us to explore the multifaceted nature of tropical environments and the diverse experiences that come with them. Often, the tropics may be seen as a paradise with lush botanicals, sandy white beaches, and crystal-clear waters with an ease or attitude of leisure, but the complexities of tropical living move beyond the stereotypical images of paradise to uncover the nuances and challenges that lie beneath the surface.

Uncover how each artist draws inspiration from their surroundings. Showcasing a wide range of perspectives and experiences that challenge or personify traditional notions of tropical paradise. Join us on this immersive journey through captivating narratives that will redefine your perception of life under the beating sun.

This exhibition was curated by Joshua Veasey, Gallery Director of Fredric Snitzer Gallery.
